Priorities Committee Meeting

Minutes – January 30, 2006

School Administration Building – 7:15 A.M.

 

Members Present:  Donald Gilligan, School Committee; Charles Goodman, Finance

                               Committee, Chairman; David Grasfield, Selectman; Ira Miller,

                               Finance Committee; Andrew Nebenzahl, School Committee; Walter

                               Joe Roach, Selectman; (Hamilton)

 

Other Attendees:   David Clifton, Barbara Dunham, Claire Jackson, Paul Pietal, Ben

                              Puritz, Rob Uttyebroek

 

1.      This is the 4th meeting of the FY’07 Priorities Committee.

 

2.      Discussion was held on additions to the Revenue Forecast due to release of Governor’s budget numbers.

 

3.      Because of change in the local aid formula, the amount was not as high as expected.  There is a need to contact Sen. Timilty.

 

4.      Discussion was held on the sale of Rattlesnake Hill and how this would be assessed.

 

5.      Discussion continued regarding health insurance and the hiring of a health consultant.  A meeting with auditors and health insurance advisor planned within a week or two.

 

6.      David Grasfield suggested using real numbers for revenue and expenses in the budget.  Assume actual maintenance of service.  Also stated the need for a Finance Director.

 

7.      A suggestion was made to compare budget requests to best revenue numbers available, get the information, and go over it at another meeting.

 

8.      Dave Clifton, Director, Recreation Department, came in to discuss facilities funding.  He will make presentation at the next meeting.

 

9.      The next meeting will be on Thursday, February 16, at 7:30 p.m.

 

10.  It was MOVED and SECONDED to adjourn.

 

11.  VOTED:  6-0-0.
